Bilbao’s SC Gallery proudly presents “Naturaleza abstracta” (Abstract nature), Sixe Paredes’ first solo exhibition in this gallery.
To celebrate its ninth year of commitment with contemporary art, SC Gallery will hold the opening reception of Sixe Paredes’ exhibition “Naturaleza abstracta” (Abstract nature) on 19 May at 19:30 h. The exhibition will be open until 21 July 2017.
This exhibition includes one sculpture and ten paintings on canvas and paper.
“NATURALEZA ABSTRACTA” (ABSTRACT NATURE)
Sixe Paredes starts a new cycle with this exhibition, thus closing the Andine phase that started in 2010 and left a massive imprint in his personality and artwork.
As Sixe himself explains: “My starting point is a reflection about the imaginary world that I have been creating for over 20 years of passionate, intense work. This has led to new dimensions in a natural shift towards abstraction, which in turn leaves an open space for imagination”.
Using our own imagination is a rare thing these days: as images are constantly provided for us, they effectively neutralize our expansion ability, like a grey wall. Sixe is able to break this wall in a mesmerizing exhibition whose pieces show a connection between nature, the world and cosmos in constant evolution
The paintings show landscapes that combine straight lines and organic designs that give shape to different reflections. We can find abstract representations of mountains, birds, the sky, the earth, water, and fishes united in their nature and spirit, forming a macrocosm.
Sixe’s eclectic language is also applied in a vibrant sculpture that combines wool, strings, beads and wooden bars.
